A major publication came out over the weekend naming the City of Houston as the most poorly zoned city in the USA.
Well, Hell, that isn’t news - that’s something Houstonians have always been proud of. Houston is a city that has NO zoning ordinances at all - never has, and if the last try is any indication, never will.
Every ten or twelve years, some well-meaning group (usually newcomers from up north) will try to get some sort of zoning law passed, but their efforts have never been succesful. That’s why a store selling sex toys can exist across the street from a gas station, next door to a major department store and within spitting distance of a high-rise office building.
Native Houstonians don’t see anything wrong with that.
