Be Careful What You Wish For

For those of you who don't already know, let me say that I think Donald Trump is a jerk.  He's brash and rude, prone to wild exaggeration - not exactly the sort of person I'd want for a next-door neighbor.
But - and it's a big but - in spite of all the efforts of the Democrats to thwart him, he has been a remarkably effective President.
You don't have to be a good person to be a good President.  Jimmy Carter was probably the kindest, most altruistic, most decent person to ever hold the office, and easily the worst (least effective) President in history.
Back when there were twenty-something Democratic candidates for President this year, I'm pretty sure most (with the exception of Bernie Sanders and Joe Biden) didn't really want the nomination.  The economy was going through the roof, the whole impeachment thing had collapsed, and Trump looked looked like a lock for a second term.  I'm sure at least some of those who bowed out early figured that being beaten like a rented mule in November wasn't exactly a resume enhancer.  Once Bernie gave up, Biden sort of fell into the nomination by default.
Then came Covid-19, and the shut down, BLM demonstrations and the riots.  Trump's re-election can no longer be assumed.  It's a long way to November, but if things don't improve significantly on several fronts there's a very strong chance he will lose.
That leaves Biden.
The Democratic establishment must be having an "Oh, shit" moment about now.

Oh, Brother!

We have a Brother MFC240C multifunction printer that has served us faithfully for years.  Lots of years - in electronic terms, it's practically an antique.
Last Wednesday, it quit.
It didn't quit entirely - it sill copies and it still scans, and if I had the phone line plugged in, I'm assuming the fax function would work as well.
What it will not do is print, and that, of course,  is its primary function.

I've run all the diagnostics - uninstalled both the printer and the print drivers - nothing works.  Print jobs either drop out of the print queue as though they printed, or they just sit there forever.  The best result I've had was an error message, but that only came up once.
This morning, I went on line and ordered a new H-P printer from Best Buy.
