Mail Call

I quite literally waded out to the mailbox yesterday afternoon and came back with two envelopes.

The first was a 4X8 insulated envelope, one of those with bubble wrap inside and used to mail fragile stuff.  It contained two one-inch cubes of white plastic.

Without going into too much detail, the Pullrite Superglide hitch for our 5th wheel uses a guide plate mounted on the trailer to cause the hitch to slide toward the rear of the truck on turns,  When my RV mechnic removed the guide plate a while back, the block the mounting bolt screws into fell apart.  I called the manufacturer, and they sent me two – a replacement and a spare – free of charge.

The second piece of mail was bright yellow.  Except for the color, it looked like a typical business envelope with a window for the address.  In HUGE letters across the front it said

PAST DUE

It seemed designed to let anyone who saw it know that we were deadbeats who didn’t pay our bills.

It turned out to be from the Republican Party, and warned that if we didn’t send money by the 20th, Honey would be dropped from their rolls.

Oh, if only I could believe that.

A few years ago, in a fit of patriotism, Honey sent them $25, and we have been constantly bombarded with letters, phone calls and emails ever since.  Take my word – if you are ever tempted to support a political party, find a way to do it anomylously – otherwise, you will live to regret it.
