One of our resident hummingbirds was hovering in the same spot, about six feet off the ground, for several minutes. He would dodge left, then right, go up a foot, then down two, but he continued to maintain the same basic position.
The sun came out from behind a cloud, and we could see that he was in the middle of a swarm of gnats, and he was having lunch, snacking on the little buggers.
