Yesterday was the anniversary of the Apollo One fire - the training accident that killed astronauts Gus Grissom, Ed White and Roger Chaffee on the launch pad at Cape Kennedy in 1967.
And today is the 30th anniversary of the Challenger Disaster. The space shuttle blew up 72 seconds after lift off, taking the lives of seven people: commander Francis
"Dick" Scobee; pilot Mike Smith; mission specialists Judith Resnik,
Ron McNair and Ellison Onizuka; and payload specialists Christi McAuliffe and
Greg Jarvis.
I might be willing to go into space, but I think I would avoid the last week of January.
